When I found myself in Hwaseong, I opted for the Hwaseong Guesthouse, which promised both affordability and convenience. Located just a five-minute walk from the fortress and south gate, it's ideal for exploring on foot. Though I wouldn’t label it luxury, the essentials are all covered: comfortable beds, ample space, and a shared kitchen equipped with cookware and utensils. The guesthouse offers a washer and dryer for a few won, which I found to be quite practical after long days of wandering. One aspect that stood out was the heating system, featuring a cozy blanket to keep warm, though be mindful as it doesn't shut off by itself. The atmosphere is enhanced by the friendly owner, who provides complimentary noodles—handy for late arrivals or early departures. The bathrooms were adequately clean and stocked with body wash and shampoo. If you're a backpacker or budget traveler, this guesthouse presents excellent value without compromising on the basics. Just be ready to trade lavish options for a more authentic experience—and enjoy discovering this beautiful city. To save money and enjoy local attractions effectively, consider this choice.
